6:12 P.M. Meeting called to order by Jack Babbitt, Chair.

Jack introduced self and gave brief statement: “As provided by the Brown Act, person in the audience may address the committee in connection with any agenda item or during the public comments period.  Anyone desiring to speak please complete a speaker card and submit it to the secretary.”  Translation to Spanish Available

 

1-Pledge of Allegiance, Roll call of members, 17 present, quorum  

 

2- Public Comment on Non-Agenda items

4-Presentations

  • Mike Sanborn from Banning Residence Museum on Fencing
  • Steve Liles from Warren E&P on Oil well relocation in Wilmington
  • June Cheng from Wilmington Branch Library

 

5-Action Items:

  • From Public Works Committee:  PWC recommends that the  WNC support the changes to the Banning Museum fence location  be approved, MSA Dennis discussion, vote, 2 abstain (Mike Sanborn, Jose), 1 opposed (D Compton) 16 Yes, Passed
  • MSA Dennis, Mike S for WNC to support the request by Warren E & P on oil well relocation cellar in Wilmington, discussion, vote, 15 Yes, 2 No (Compton, Jose), 2 Abstain (Helen M, Pat W), Passed

 

6- Informational Items:

  • Anti Graffiti task force – Marcus Perez.  Will bring motion to board for support for next month and go to public works
  • Proper use of WNC name and letterhead.  Jack went over what is not allowed by WNC members when it comes to using wnc name.  Only President can speak for WNC, unless given specific permission by board for someone else to do it, like when PCAC reps vote.
  • March meeting refreshments by gateway committee

By Laws: Maricela Caraballo handed out reports for election process and committee chairs for elections where chosen

Education: Bobby McNeil, Labor: Socorro, Churches: Lucia, Non Prof Frat: Lena, Code of civility, chairpersons report, WNC election schedule, and Candidates for AL form were also handed out

Gateway beautification: Jack announced next meeting

PCAC: Donna E gave report

Public Works: announced next meeting.

 Churches: Lucia reported that a graffiti paint out was being held Saturday 25
